The flash has reflected of the paint so the color isn't quite true.

This is the start of a blue Heron in a sunrise marshland. So far at this point I have just done some very controlled pouring. I use liquid airbrush acrylic There is no painting done yet at this point. I worked down from the top pouring greys and whites working in the sun and using a lot of white  mixed in with purple. After it dried I thinned down the white and painted over the grey and part of the sun. Leaves a cool milky look. Later using a burnt sienna and purple I poured the islands where the cat tails will be. I drew in the bird, laid in water within the body and dropped in the grey, brown and white acrylic. Now I am ready to paint!
At this point I have started working cattails into the back ground using dark red and brown gouache. Started working on bird's head as well in gouache
Added more detail to the heron. I decided I want him standing on a log so I poured acrylics again using Burnt umber, burnt sienna, and white. Good foundation to build on. I love how the right side came out looking like bark!

.

Coming a bit further along. Added blue/green shadowing to the water where the sunrise isn't hitting it yet. Defined more of the log and blocked in more feathers and the legs.
Finished
I decided I didn't like the bent leg.
