| I didn't take an early shot of this. I tried something a
little different. I took watercolor board and covered it with a
coat of gesso to prevent the water from soaking in so much and
warping the top layer of paper. The result was when I poured the
colors on they became a lot more brilliant! I poured a large
white area where the moon would be and swirled the paint. The
foreground will have a couple of wolves in it |
|

| After it dried I laid a big salad bowl on the moon and
drew a circle. The shaded in the edges and layered some clouds
over it. Trees silhouetted over the moon gives it depth.
|
|

| I started blocking in the wolves |
|

| I love the challenge of painting the wolf and leaving
parts of the background showing through! |
|

| Don't worry, the Mohawk is temporary. |

MOON SHADOW
| Finished. Size 20x30. A viewer suggested the title and I
kind of like it. Although I start singing the Cat Stevens' song
every time I see it...sigh
"I'm being followed by a Moon shadow,
Moon shadow, Moon shadow....." |
