SKAGIT VALLEY  MOUNTAIN  SCENE acrylic and gouache
This is the rough comp I created for a scene I am working . Background poured using liquid acrylics. I pour it in sections with the different elements of the scene in mind. Looks like my river is going to be a waterfall! Dropped salt into the sky to get that starry effect. The salt will pull up the moisture and a color with it.

The mountain is supposed to be a close shape of Mount Baker. I played off the flow of paint to create the ridges and crevices

Started developing the waterfall and the rocks around it. Added more detail to the rocks around the waterfall.  Started developing the river. Adding rocks to play up the white water effect. The cliffs on the right are starting to take shape. Used a toothbrush to spatter paint on them (great for rocks) Blocked in the eagle and three trees
Worked more detail on the trees (scrub in with a dry brush for a bark texture), added some ground shrubbery Filling in the greenery around and on trees. Take an old brush and scrub away. I like using one cut at a slant, the outer bristles fan out to make the leaves/needles. Filling in the eagle. I start with the head and then work the wonderful feathers on the wing tips.

Putting more detail in the river and on the rocks

Eagle is slowly coming along. Adding rocks along the river's edge. Defined more background trees Filled in trees on left starting from dark to light green. Added highlights to trees on right to make them stand out and ghosted the background cliffs to get added depth. Worked more on the eagle. Worked more on the eagle and trees and rocks on the right
